field x field at Womenswork.art in September

field x field is a solo exhibition of collage/paintings by artist Monica d. Church. The exhibition at Poughkeepsie’s Womanswork.art will have thirty small scale paintings. Church used her archive as source material and edited out works on canvas and linen that she then destroyed and reassembled. The results are pieces that are both paintings and collage. All rely on a grid. These small intimate works are visual meditations that create a viewer experience similar to that of holding a book or a printed photograph. Every rectangle is a measure of memory and an exercise in loss and hope.

field x field is on view from September 2 - 24, 2022 at Womenswork.art located at 4 South Clinton Street. An artist’s reception will be held on September 10, from 2-6 PM. Monica will give a gallery talk on Thursday, September 15 at 6 PM. Gallery Hours are Fridays and Saturdays 2- 6PM or by appointment.
